FULL QUESTION: In your whole life, how many times have you stopped smoking for one day or longer because you were trying to quit smoking cigarettes for good? Note: Experimental smokers are adults who have ever tried smoking cigarettes, even one or two puffs, but denied having smoked at least 100 cigarettes in their lifetime. Former smokers are adults who said they had smoked at least 100 cigarettes in their lifetime, but do not currently smoke. Current smokers are adults who said they had smoked at least 100 cigarettes in their lifetime and currently smoke every day or some days.

NOTES: Charts display data when the sample size is at least 50. Variables with less than 50 respondents display no bar and no data. Estimates of 0% with at least 50 responses in the group will have a data label of 0%. In 2021, 15 respondents used a gender label besides man or woman, and the estimates for these respondents are not shown in the gender breakdowns.
