The Substance Use and Tobacco Prevention Program at the Wyoming Department of Health partnered with WYSAC at the University of Wyoming to develop a series of fact sheets about commercial tobacco and nicotine. These fact sheets mostly use data from the 2021 Wyoming Adult Tobacco Survey, along with other research to provide context. The fact sheets cover seven topics:
- Age Is a Key Factor in Starting Commercial Tobacco & Nicotine Use
- Youth Nicotine Use
- Commercial Tobacco and Nicotine Taxes Prevent Use & Aid Quitting
- Most Wyomingites Do Not Smoke (reflecting progress of national, state, and local efforts since a 1964 U.S. Surgeon General’s report outlining harms of smoking)
- Two Groups in Wyoming Unequally Impacted by Smoking
- Most Adult Smokers Want to Quit
- Wyoming Adults Support Smokefree Air Policies
