{"id":1121,"date":"2020-11-20T14:33:05","date_gmt":"2020-11-20T21:33:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wysac.uwyo.edu\/wysac\/?p=1121"},"modified":"2020-11-20T14:39:23","modified_gmt":"2020-11-20T21:39:23","slug":"prescription-drug-abuse-prevention-toolkit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wysac.uwyo.edu\/wysac\/projects\/prescription-drug-abuse-prevention-toolkit\/","title":{"rendered":"Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Toolkit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/wyomingpreventiondepot.org\/rxtoolkit\/\">Wyoming Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Toolkit<\/a> is a collaborative effort between the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/health.wyo.gov\/\">Wyoming Department of Health<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wysac.uwyo.edu\/wysac\/\">Wyoming Survey &amp; Analysis Center<\/a> at the University of Wyoming (WYSAC).\u00a0Funded through the Wyoming\u00a0Grant to Prevent Prescription Drug\/Opioid Overdose-Related Deaths\u00a0(PDO), this project is intended to make information about prescription drug abuse and related prevention strategies more accessible.<\/p>\n<p>This website aims to provide resources for prevention workers and other stakeholders throughout the lifecycles of prevention efforts.\u00a0 It is modeled after the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.samhsa.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/20190620-samhsa-strategic-prevention-framework-guide.pdf\">Strategic Prevention Framework<\/a>\u00a0(SPF), a five-step, cyclical process to help stakeholders understand and address issues of substance abuse and addiction in their communities. The SPF model includes the following components:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Assessment<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Using current data to understand local needs<\/li>\n<li><strong>Capacity<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Building partnerships and resources to have capacity to address prevention needs<\/li>\n<li><strong>Planning<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Understanding best practices related to these needs and how to effectively implement them<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implementation<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Delivering the best practices or programs selected in the previous step<\/li>\n<li><strong>Evaluation<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Taking a look at how practices were implemented and whether they led to the intended outcome<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Regardless of what step a community is at in its efforts to prevent prescription drug abuse, this website will provide the information and resources they need to get started, or to enhance work that\u2019s already being done.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Wyoming Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Toolkit is a collaborative effort between the\u00a0Wyoming Department of Health\u00a0and the\u00a0Wyoming Survey &amp; Analysis Center at the University of Wyoming (WYSAC).\u00a0Funded through the Wyoming\u00a0Grant to Prevent Prescription Drug\/Opioid Overdose-Related Deaths\u00a0(PDO), this project is intended to make information about prescription drug abuse and related prevention strategies more accessible.
