About WYSAC’s SRC

With experience in survey research dating to 1972, the Survey Research Center (SRC) was officially established as a unit of the University of Wyoming in 1989 and has been a key component of WYSAC since 2004. SRC exists to meet the data needs of:
  • Federal policy makers
  • Local governments
  • Non-profit groups
  • Private businesses
  • State agencies
  • University offices, faculty researchers, and student organizations.
SRC facilities include WinCATI software for computer-aided telephone interviewing, Teleform optical recognition software for mail questionnaires, and firewall-protected servers for Internet surveys. Reliability and data security are further supported by a professional commitment to quality.

Through the SRC, WYSAC is a charter member of the Association of Academic Survey Research Organizations. SRC also subscribes fully to the Code of Professional Ethics and Practices of the American Association for Public Opinion Research. Confidentiality of respondent information is always a top priority.

Wyoming Lodging and Dining Facilities Accessibility Study
In 2007 the SRC conducted a comprehensive survey of Wyoming lodging and dining facilities to establish levels of accessibility for travelers with disabilities. The results of the study were published in an attractive guidebook which was made widely available to travelers with disabilities. The project was sponsored by the Wyoming INstitute for Disabilities (WIND) through a Department of Health and Human Services grant.

WIND enlisted WYSAC to repeat the survey again in 2009. All Wyoming lodging and dining facilities will receive the questionnaire as well as an instructional DVD designed to assist them in completing the survey. The results of the study will be published in 2010 in an updated guidebook which will again be made available to travelers with disabilities in Wyoming.

The Wyoming Quit Tobacco Program evaluation surveys
Since 2005 the SRC has been conducting monthly surveys of participants in the WQTP. Participants are interviewed at 3 and 6 months after enrollment to establish quit rates and satisfaction with the program. The data collected are used by WYSAC’s Center for Health and Education Studies (CHES) to evaluate the success of the program.
